Mother arrested for manslaughter in November infant death

ALEXANDER, Ark. (KTHV) – A woman was arrested for manslaughter in the death of her 7-month-old child in Saline County.

According to Bill Sadler with Arkansas State Police, 7-month-old Yankee Combee died on November 5, 2013 in Alexander. He said Rosie Crone, 22, was arrested and charged with manslaughter Tuesday.

Crone is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. In addition to manslaughter, information on Saline County Jail's website details that she was also charged with possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia by fraud, forgery, or misrepresentation.

Shortly after the infant's death, THV11 reported that a Department of Human Services report said a family member may have been responsible. The child's great-grandmother Rosie Hobby, who was, according to the Saline County Jail's website, also arrested Tuesday on drug charges, spoke with reporter Daniel Wilkerson a week after the death and said Crone and the child laid down for a nap, and when she awoke, the child was unresponsive.

DHS told THV11 shortly after Yankee's death that a case was opened in August of 2013 because of reported "environmental negligence," but the case was closed the same month because the claims were unsubstantiated.

As of Thursday, Crone had bonded out of jail.
