Bryant woman arrested for stealing lottery tickets | News
BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) -- A Bryant woman is under arrest for allegedly stealing over 100 lottery tickets.
On Sept. 21 Bryant Police officers took a report from the Speed Zone gas station about an employee that had been stealing numerous scratch off lottery tickets.
The manager of the station told police that Jessica Lee Parker, 20, was caught taking the scratch off tickets on store video.
The manager became suspicious when she noticed Parker's cash drawer came up $325.56 short. She went back an viewed the security tape and she says it showed Parker taking the tickets Sept. 15 and scratching them off while working.
The manager says Parker would throw the non-winning tickets in the trash and scan the winning tickets but no take the money out of the drawers.
Parker told police she was not trying to steal a lot of money, but tried to find a $500 winning ticket because she was late on a car payment.
Records indicate Parker took 174 tickets that day.
Jessica Lee Parker was arrested Wednesday Sept. 28 and taken to the Saline County Jail, where she was charged with felony theft of property and lottery fraud which is a class D felony.
