Grace Church of Bryant hosting free fall event

BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - The Grace Church of Bryant will be hosting 'Harvest Party' on Saturday, November 7.

This is a free, family-friendly event. There will be live music, games and food for all those of all ages to enjoy. You will be able to Watch puppet performances, taste chili from a chili cook off and bounce around at a foam party. There will also be an antique car show.

The event will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church located at 4200 AR-5 in Bryant.

BNPD makes arrest in bomb threat at Benton High School

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - A 16-year-old was arrested and charged on Wednesday after allegedly making a bomb threat against Benton High School.

The Benton Police Department took a report of a bomb threat at the Benton High School on Wednesday, October 21.  Reports state that during the late afternoon, information was obtained that indicated a bomb threat was made against the school. Officers with the school took immediate action to investigate and determine who was behind the threat.

Benton PD searching for driver behind hit-and-run near Junior High School

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - The Benton Police Department is searching for the driver that hit a 13-year-old on a skateboard Tuesday morning. 

At around 7:26 a.m., officers responded to a hit-and-run accident near the Benton Junior High School. When they arrived on the scene, police made contact with the 13-year-old victim who claimed he was skateboarding near the intersection of Border and North Street when he collided with a truck.  The victim told police that he was unable to stop as he and a truck approached the intersection. The teen reportedly hit the front driver's side of the vehicle, causing him to roll over the hood and land on the pavement. 

The vehicle is described as being a small dark colored truck with red wheel rims and a rusted, roughed up truck bed. 

The victim was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries to his knees, elbows, and head.   

11th Annual Saline County Coat Drive

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - Winter is coming, and some are in need of the proper clothing to remain warm this coming cold season. 

On October 22, the Gene Moss Building at Tyndall Park is hosting a coat drive from 7:30 a.m. till 7:30 p.m. Those donating or in need of a winter coat can stop by during those hours. 

Organizers stated that they needed all sizes of coats especially women and children. They will also accept winter hats and gloves.

BNPD launches 'Be Wary, Don't Be Scary' fall initiative

BENTON, Ark. - The Benton Police Department (BNPD) is officially launching the ‘Be Wary, Don’t Be Scary’ fall initiative during the month of October. 

The ‘Be Wary, Don’t Be Scary’ initiative will be a program that has two primary goals:

One goal will be focusing on traffic related issues throughout the city, including speeding, distracted driving and other related offenses. 

Juvenile suspect arrested again for recent property crimes

Juvenile suspect arrested again for recent property crimes

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - A juvenile was taken into Benton police custody Tuesday night in relation to numerous property crimes. 

The 16-year-old suspect was also arrested on September 11 for property crimes in the area. After further investigation, police found that the suspect was linked to incidents that had taken place in the Longhills Village and Hurricane Lake Estates neighborhoods. This involved vehicles being broken into and some of them stolen. 

The juvenile was charged with two counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, five counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Breaking or Entering, 1st Degree Criminal Mischief, two counts of Breaking or Entering, Fleeing and Criminal Trespassing. These charges are in addition to the original charges filed earlier and more charges are possible as the investigation continues.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Magic Springs is bringing back its annual “Magic Screams” Halloween event. 

Beginning on October 10 and continuing through November 1, the park will be open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays for the public to experience a good scream for Halloween.  

Several of the park’s rides will be open, including X-Coaster, The Gauntlet, Wild Thang, Big Bad John, Ozark Mountain Taxi Co., Razorback Roundup (enclosed with black light paint), the Carousel and the kiddie rides.

“We have the largest Halloween event in the state, possibly in the region and want our visitors to enjoy every bit of it,” said General Manager Steve Honeycutt.
