LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – The 12th annual Empty Bowls event was held Thursday in Little Rock.

It's the Arkansas Foodbank's largest running and most consistently successful fundraiser. Our very own Tom Brannon emceed the event, where Arkansas artists create works of art for the auction.

Along with great art, there was also a food court of sorts featuring some of Little Rock's top-rated restaurants.

The Foodbank is celebrating 30 years of feeding the hungry this year.

Naturally, you should all head down to Round 2 of the Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase. Which band will take the second round and move on to the finals? Will it be Fox Blossom Venture? John Willis? Over at The Joint, fiery singer Tawanna Campbell will perform, 9 p.m. At Revolution, a host of performers will pay tribute to Bob Marley on the late artist's 59th birthday. Anthony B, Fire & Brimstone + Solution Band, Tricia Reed and DJ Hy-C provide the soundtrack, 9 p.m., $20. Pulaski Technical College's Big Rock Reading Series brings in poet Jericho Brown, 6 p.m., free.

Chili's hosts statewide fundraiser to help rebuild Goodwill in Searcy

WHAT: Chili's Grill & Bar locations in Arkansas are banding together to raise funds for the Goodwill in Searcy that burned down in March. The donations will go toward rebuilding Goodwill, so the organization can continue to assist those in need and provide jobs in the Searcy community. Throughout the evening Wednesday, June 26, 2013 Chili’s will donate 10 percent of food, beverage and To Go sales to help support this cause.

16 restaurants pass alcohol compliance checks

From the Benton Police Department:

Officers with the Benton Special Investigation Unit, which is comprised of officers from the Benton and Bryant Police Departments, recently conducted undercover compliance checks of restaurants that serve alcohol in Benton and Bryant.  These checks were done to ensure that these establishments are not serving alcohol to minors. 

There were sixteen restaurants that passed and one that failed the compliance checks during this operation.  The fifteen establishments that passed were; Smokey Joe’s, Rivera Maya, La Hacienda, Colton’s Steakhouse, Denton’s, Sakura, Chili’s, Mi Ranchito, Ruby Tuesday, Casa Mexicana, Whole Hog Café, Luigi’s, US Pizza, Applebee’s, Patron’s, and Gino’s.  The restaurant that failed the check was Logan’s Roadhouse in Bryant.

BENTON, Ark. -- The Chamber’s annual Savor the Flavor represents an effective fundraiser for the Chamber and a tasty social event for the community. During the event, patrons get to sample great cuisine from a variety of local vendors while enjoying entertainment, a silent auction, door prizes and plenty of good fellowship.

Savor the Flavor happens in late October. For the past two years, it has been held in the Benton High School cafeteria. Tickets are available in advance from the Chamber or may be purchased at the door. 

In preparation for the event each year, the Chamber selects a Savor the Flavor Committee to coordinate entertainment, sign up restaurants and more.
