THV Community: Teachers, students say Y.E.S. to $4,900 opportunity

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas teachers now have the opportunity to compete for a share of $2,200 in cash awards and student teams compete for a share of $2,700 in cash awards by participating in the new 9-12th grade business plan competition.

Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation recently launched a Youth Entrepreneur Showcase (YES) designed to expose Arkansas students and teachers to entrepreneurship.

Participating teams can win in two categories: Most Innovative Product or Service and Best Business Plan. Teachers and sponsors may go online and fill out the required Intent-to-Compete form. The innovative Y.E.S. 2.0 website is designed to help teachers and students learn to write a business plan quickly and easily.

Bryant School District - While Santa Claus is known for filling the stockings of children around the world on Christmas morning, Ms. Hooten's 4th grade class at Springhill Elementary set out to brighten the holiday for a different generation - two residents of our local nursing home.

"I called the nursing home and received names of two residents that had little to no family or friends..." explained Hooten, who's class has reached out to the home for several years.
