Pulaski Tech opens fall 2012 registration

Pulaski Technical College is registering new students for the fall 2012 semester through Aug. 8. Classes begin Aug. 23.

Students can register in the Campus Center on Pulaski Tech’s main campus at 3000 West Scenic Drive in North Little Rock or at the Little Rock-South site at 13000 Interstate 30. The hours are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

New students should complete an online application to the college and submit all required admission documents before registering. Admission information is available on the Pulaski Tech website at www.pulaskitech.edu.  First time entering, degree-seeking college students are required to attend new student orientation.

Students registering during early fall registration must have submitted a signed financial aid award letter, paid in full or established a payment plan by the end of registration on Aug.

Pulaski Tech opens registration for Summer II term

Pulaski Technical College is registering students for the Summer II term through June 28.

Students can register 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. weekdays and 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on June 28, in the Campus Center on Pulaski Tech’s main campus in North Little Rock, 3000 West Scenic Drive.

Students should complete an online application to the college and submit all required admission documents before registering. For those registering before June 20, payment is due by 4 p.m. June 20. For those registering on or after June 20, payment is due no later than close of registration on June 28.   

The college welcomes students from four-year colleges and universities who wish to take classes in order to transfer Pulaski Tech credits to other institutions. The Arkansas Course Transfer System website offers a convenient way to ensure that credits will transfer successfully.

LRFW launches youth fashion design competition

LRFW launches youth fashion design competition

Little Rock Fashion Week is accepting applications from students entering grades 1st through 12th for its Youth Fashion Sketch Design Competition. Applications can be downloaded at LittleRockFashionWeek.com.

The purpose of the competition is to ignite, motivate and encourage young people who are interested in the fashion industry. Students are asked to create their own clothing line by sketching out their designs and coming up with a name.

The finalists from different grade categories (1st-5th grades; 6th-8th grades; and 9th-12th grades) will be invited to attend Little Rock Fashion Week 2012.

Arkansas KIDS GO! winners selected

Children K-3 wrote, illustrated winning stories; four entered in national contest

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) congratulates the more than 500 students across Arkansas who participated in this year’s PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. Stories such as “The Horse That has Talent” and “The Dingo and the Sparrow” were two of 12 stories named first, second or third place in the K-3 contest. All 12 winning stories can be viewed online at aetn.org/kids/writerscontest.

All first place Arkansas winners have been entered into the national PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest where they will compete against area winners from across the country.

Benton native receives Fulbright Award

 

CONWAY -- Brittany Edwardes and Kathy Hill of the University of Central Arkansas have been awarded the Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarship, the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently.

Edwardes and Hill are among the more than 1,700 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2012-2013 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

Edwardes, of Texarkana, will be going to Malaysia. Hill, of Benton, will be going to South Korea. Both students will be participating in an English Teaching Assistantship.
