Former superintendent to return in new capacity

Former superintendent to return in new capacity

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Benton School Board has lifted the suspension of former superintendent Tony Prothro, though he will not be returning to his old job.

You may recall Prothro was suspended by the board back in April. No reason was given for this decision, and THV's numerous requests for information from the board, school officials and Prothro himself went unreturned.

Dan Jordan, acting superintendent, tells Today's THV that Prothro will not be returning as superintendent. He emailed us a copy of the board's resolution, which is as follows:

We, the Benton School Board, recognize the many achievements and accomplishments of Dr. Tony Prothro’s steadfast work and tireless efforts during his tenure to improve our district.

LRFW Models to read to elementary students

Reading is fashionable. On Tuesday, November 15, several professional models of the Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW) will be visiting Wakefield Elementary School, located at 75 Westminister Drive in Little Rock, to read to students. LRFW’s participation coincides with the Little Rock School District’s ViPS Jane Mendel Reading Day.

“I’m very excited that we’re taking part in this event,” says Brandon D. Campbell, LRFW founder and the models’ agent. “Education is extremely important to me and the LRFW family. Anything we can do to promote literacy in our community; we will.  It’s my hope that we can inspire kids to read more and inspire some of them to get over their fear of reading. We want to make reading fun.
