Weekend lane closures will impact traffic at Big Rock Interchange

LITTLE ROCK (3-26) – Construction work will require weekend lane closures and detours at the Interstate 430/630 “Big Rock” Interchange in Little Rock, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be installing steel beams on the new bridge over Shackleford Road. The following routes will be affected.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Lane closures in place on Highway 70 in Garland and Saline counties between Hot Springs and Interstate 30 will be suspended the remainder of this week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews have been performing geotechnical drilling and sampling in preparation for widening Highway 70. The work has required lane closures this month.  However, due to an expected high volume of traffic headed to Hot Springs for events at Oaklawn Park and for the statewide high school basketball tournament, those closures have been cancelled for Thursday and Friday.  Closures were not scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.  

The lane closures will be back in place weekdays only 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when work resumes on Monday, March 17th.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Work on Highway 70 will require lane closures in Garland and Saline counties between Hot Springs and Interstate 30, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be performing geotechnical drilling and sampling in preparation for widening Highway 70. The closures will be weekdays, Monday, March 3 through Friday, March 14, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using cones and flaggers.

The moving lane closures will begin on the eastbound lane at Hot Springs near mile marker 3 and continue to I-30. Once drilling and sampling is complete on the eastbound lane, crews will perform work on the westbound lane, beginning at I-30 and moving toward Hot Springs.

LITTLE ROCK (2-21) – Routine bridge inspections will require lane closures on Interstate 30 in Hot Spring County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be inspecting the Interstate 30 bridges over Rayburn Creek west of Glen Rose on Tuesday, February 25th and Blakely Creek on Wednesday, February 26th and Thursday, February 27th. It’s located just west of the Social Hill Rest Area, west of Malvern.

Sign going up at Big Rock Interchange will cause delays

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Sign replacement will require a lane closure on Interstate 430 in Little Rock, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be replacing a sign on the Shackleford Road overpass. The work will reduce Interstate 430 northbound traffic to one lane.

The closure will be Tuesday night, February 25th, through Wednesday morning, February 26th between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

This work had been scheduled for Wednesday February 19th, but had to be postponed due to high winds.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) - The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department is now accepting applications for the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The Section 5310 – Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program is federally funded. It provides capital assistance in the form of discounted vehicles to agencies providing transportation services to seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Ralph Hall named deputy director, chief engineer at AHTD

Ralph Hall named deputy director, chief engineer at AHTD

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AHTD)The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has announced that Ralph Hall has been promoted to Deputy Director and Chief Engineer.

Hall was previously Assistant to the Director for the Department.  He has been with the AHTD since 1972.
