Arkansas drivers urged to use IDriveArkansas.com for travel information

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AHTD) - The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) reminds drivers to visit IDriveArkansas.com before hitting the road this Thanksgiving holiday.

Extensive highway improvements are underway in the state. With those improvements come work zones. To aid in your holiday travel, AHTD has been working hard to open as many lanes as possible.

Still, with many ongoing improvements, travelers will likely face work zones and possible delays due to an increased volume of traffic.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead by visiting IDriveArkansas.com for the latest travel information. The new website includes live traffic flow, weather information, and details on construction zones.  Travelers can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AHTD)Improvements to Highway 46 will require lane closures in Grant County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be paving a small section of Highway 46 (Sheridan Road), 1.4 miles west of Interstate 530 in Redfield. They are also elevating the driving and shoulder surface to reduce flooding concerns.

The work will reduce traffic to one lane on Friday, November 8th and Tuesday, November 12th. The traffic lane reductions will only occur between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting.  Traffic will be controlled using cones, flaggers, and warning signs.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) - Motorists navigating the state highway system can now do so more safely and efficiently thanks to a new travel and construction information web site developed by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department. 

IDRIVEARKANSAS.com is an Internet destination that enables the public to locate construction work zones on the state highway system and determine if current traffic conditions require an adjustment in travel plans. Additional layers of data can be toggled on and off to provide motorists with an overall understanding of what is happening on the state highway system.

Rolling lane closure scheduled for 30/430

LITTLE ROCK (4-11) -- Crews performing pavement testing on the Interstate 30 frontage road in the Interstate 30/430 interchange area of Little Rock will require a rolling lane closure next week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The testing will require a rolling lane closure in one of the two westbound lanes of the frontage road on Monday, April 15.  The lane closure will be located between Mabelvale Pike and Vimy Ridge Road.  The lane closure will be in effect between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., weather permitting.  One lane will remain open, traffic delays will be minimal.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.

Military Road changes in effect Friday

Military Road changes in effect Friday

From the City of Benton:

On Friday,  Jan. 11 Military Road traffic between Smithers and Northshore Drive will be shifted over onto the new lanes. The old road will be closed to thru traffic at this time.

Access to the old roadway for the businesses and their customers may be obtained at the Smithers or Northshore intersections, based on the business location. There will be a sign posted indicating “Road Closed to Thru Traffic.” 

The entrance to Lincoln Square from Military will be closed also. The traffic on Lincoln Road will be shifted into two lanes as soon as the Military Road traffic has been moved.

The timing may change depending upon the weather.
